VTX Macro Desktop Can Now Recover After a Crash
A desktop app that gets back up
If VTX Macro closes unexpectedly, a native recovery supervisor can now detect the crash and relaunch the application automatically.
The recovery system distinguishes genuine crashes from intentional actions such as quitting, restarting, or installing an update. It preserves safe startup preferences while avoiding the replay of sensitive login or deep-link information.
To prevent endless restart loops, recovery attempts use increasing delays and stop after three crashes within ten minutes. Normal operation resets that protection window.
Safer desktop updates
Crash recovery now coordinates with the desktop updater. The supervisor steps aside during an update and is rearmed if installation fails, preventing the updater and recovery system from interfering with one another.
The signed Windows desktop release has been updated to version 2026.7.10.
Better recovery for device-only AI keys
Client-run AI profiles using provider keys stored only on the current device now handle configuration changes more reliably.
When a valid device key is available but the server-side provider snapshot is outdated, VTX Macro can recognize the local configuration and continue. If setup information appears stale, the client refreshes its secure vault once and retries before pausing the runtime.
Provider validation is also more precise: a key for an unrelated provider no longer makes the selected provider appear ready. Common provider aliases, including Google and Gemini, are recognized correctly.
When a device key really is unavailable, the app now presents a clearer explanation directing users to restore the key, synchronize the provider, or select another model.
Tested across every desktop platform
The Windows, macOS, and Linux release pipelines now test the native recovery contract directly. Coverage includes unexpected crashes, normal exits, update handoffs, restart-loop protection, desktop availability, and packaged application behavior.
Users should update and restart VTX Macro Desktop to activate the new native recovery system.
